What came after Bappa Rawal?

Quick answer

The documented line students can date more firmly starts later: Kumbha in the fifteenth century, Sanga in the sixteenth, Udai Singh and Pratap after them.

Detailed answer

The documented line students can date more firmly starts later: Kumbha in the fifteenth century, Sanga in the sixteenth, Udai Singh and Pratap after them.

Bappa Rawal is how Mewar tells its beginning. He is not a man whose diary survives. Treat the title as tradition.

Write “traditional, eighth century, debated” and then move to rulers whose reigns have dates: Kumbha 1433–1468, Sanga died 1528, Pratap died 1597.

Important information

  • Eighth century in bardic accounts. The date and even the identity are debated.

Sources

  • Standard histories used for Rajasthan examinations — Dates below are the ones commonly taught. Legends, later poems and disputed days are marked.
  • Rajasthan Legislative Assembly integration table — Used for the 1948–1956 stages. That table prints the Matsya Union as 17 March 1948. Some textbooks say 18 March.
