Tourism
Places, forts and journeys
Rajasthan is India’s largest state by area. A first week is one line of cities, not the whole map. October to March is the kind window for most visitors. Summer heat on the plains is serious, and monsoon greens the east and south.
Food
Thalis, sweets and desert cooking
Dal baati churma, gatte, ker sangri, Jaipur’s pyaaz kachori and Jodhpur’s mirchi vada are everyday foods, not only festival plates. Laal maas is a hot mutton dish. Ghewar belongs to Teej and the rains.
Culture
Dress, craft and festivals
Bandhani is tie-dye. Leheriya is the monsoon wave. Gangaur follows Holi, and Pushkar’s camel fair sits near Kartik Purnima. Those civil dates move every year.

FAQ
Is Rajasthan.Love an official government website?
No. It is an independent knowledge and planning library. Recruitment notices, ticket prices, exam dates and results must be checked on the official site named in the answer.
Where do the answers come from?
From files stored with this website. Search runs in your browser. There is no live feed from a government server.
What if my question is not in the library?
The site will say it could not find a verified answer. It will not invent one. You will see the closest stored questions and categories.
Can I save a question without an account?
Yes. Saved questions, guides, tools and recent searches stay in this browser until you remove them.
Why do some answers ask me to verify a fact?
District boundaries, fees, train times, schemes and exam rules change. Those records are marked and dated. Evergreen history and culture are written more directly, still with sources.

History of Chittorgarh Fort
Quick answer
Chittorgarh is the great hill fort of Mewar and one of the six components of the UNESCO Hill Forts of Rajasthan, inscribed in 2013. It was the earlier capital of the Sisodia rulers before Udaipur became the main seat.
Detailed answer
The fort stands on a long plateau above the modern town. Inside the walls are palaces, temples, tanks and the Vijay Stambha, the tower of victory usually associated with Rana Kumbha’s 15th-century campaign. The fort’s story is told through several sieges, including the well-known attacks of 1303 under Alauddin Khalji, 1535 under Bahadur Shah of Gujarat, and 1568 under Akbar.
Those sieges are historical events. Some of the most repeated stories around them, especially the tale of Padmini, come from later literature. Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Padmavat is a 16th-century poem, not a contemporary chronicle of 1303. Treat that strand as legend unless you are reading a sourced history that separates the two.
After the 1568 siege, Udai Singh II developed Udaipur as a new capital. Chittorgarh remained a symbol of Mewar. Today it is visited as a fort, not as a living royal court. Give it half a day at least. The plateau is large.
Important information
- UNESCO lists Chittorgarh with Kumbhalgarh, Ranthambore, Gagron, Amber and Jaisalmer. Mehrangarh in Jodhpur is famous and is not part of that serial inscription.
- Wear shoes you can walk in. Vehicle rules inside the fort change; follow the staff on the day.
Tips
- Pair it with Udaipur rather than with a same-day Jaisalmer plan. The distances do not cooperate.
- Read the site boards, which are more careful than many short videos.
