A slow look at Rajasthan
Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, below the older palace at Amber.

Tourism
Places, forts and journeys
Rajasthan is India’s largest state by area. A first week is one line of cities, not the whole map. October to March is the kind window for most visitors. Summer heat on the plains is serious, and monsoon greens the east and south.
Food
Thalis, sweets and desert cooking
Dal baati churma, gatte, ker sangri, Jaipur’s pyaaz kachori and Jodhpur’s mirchi vada are everyday foods, not only festival plates. Laal maas is a hot mutton dish. Ghewar belongs to Teej and the rains.
Culture
Dress, craft and festivals
Bandhani is tie-dye. Leheriya is the monsoon wave. Gangaur follows Holi, and Pushkar’s camel fair sits near Kartik Purnima. Those civil dates move every year.

Dilwara at Mount Abu
Marble Jain temples in Sirohi. Famous, and not the UNESCO hill-fort list. Dress and photography follow the temple.

FAQ
Is Rajasthan.Love an official government website?
No. It is an independent knowledge and planning library. Recruitment notices, ticket prices, exam dates and results must be checked on the official site named in the answer.
Where do the answers come from?
From files stored with this website. Search runs in your browser. There is no live feed from a government server.
What if my question is not in the library?
The site will say it could not find a verified answer. It will not invent one. You will see the closest stored questions and categories.
Can I save a question without an account?
Yes. Saved questions, guides, tools and recent searches stay in this browser until you remove them.
Why do some answers ask me to verify a fact?
District boundaries, fees, train times, schemes and exam rules change. Those records are marked and dated. Evergreen history and culture are written more directly, still with sources.
Industries
What are the main industries of Rajasthan?
Quick answer
Rajasthan’s better-known economic strands include tourism, textiles and handicrafts, marble and other stone, cement, zinc and other mining, agriculture based on mustard and millets, and large solar power in the west. Output numbers change every year.
Detailed answer
Makrana in Nagaur is historically famous for marble, widely reported to have been used in the Taj Mahal. Jodhpur sandstone is a building stone with its own export life. Zinc mining at places such as Zawar and Rampura Agucha made the state important to India’s zinc supply. Do not quote a tonne figure from memory; use the Indian Bureau of Mines or the company report for the year you need.
Tourism is a large employer in the palace cities and a thin one in many districts. Handicrafts are real businesses and also informal workshops. Solar parks in western Rajasthan, including Bhadla in Jodhpur district, are among the largest anywhere. Installed capacity is a time-sensitive statistic. Use the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy or the state energy department for a current megawatt number.
This page is an orientation. It is not investment, tax or licensing advice.
Limitations
- No figure here is a live economic indicator. Schemes, incentives and land rules expire or change.
Sources
- Government of Rajasthan — Use the state portal for current administration, schemes and district links.
- Ministry of New and Renewable Energy — Use MNRE or the state energy department for current solar capacity.
- Indian Bureau of Mines — Use it for mineral production statistics rather than a travel article.
