Why do some answers ask me to verify a fact?
District boundaries, fees, train times, schemes and exam rules change. Those records are marked and dated. Evergreen history and culture are written more directly, still with sources.

Who was Maharana Pratap?
Quick answer
Maharana Pratap was a 16th-century ruler of Mewar, remembered for refusing to accept Mughal suzerainty. The Battle of Haldighati was fought in 1576 between his forces and the Mughal army led by Man Singh I of Amber.
Detailed answer
Haldighati is in the hills north of Udaipur. The battle was costly. Turning it into a simple victory or a simple defeat flattens what the sources support. Mewar’s capital context is Chittorgarh earlier and Udaipur in Pratap’s own time.
He is a historical ruler, heavily memorialised in modern Rajasthan. Statues and school lessons are part of that memory. For an exam, stick to dates and relationships you can source, and be wary of dialogue invented by television.
