A slow look at Rajasthan

Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, below the older palace at Amber.

What is Sariska?

Quick answer

Sariska is a tiger reserve in Alwar district, in the Aravalli, closer to Delhi and Jaipur than Ranthambore is. It has a fort and temples inside the wider landscape, and tiger sightings are never guaranteed.

Detailed answer

Sariska’s tigers were lost in the early 2000s and later reintroduced. That history is why serious visitors read a recent park note rather than an old blog that calls the reserve empty or full. Current numbers belong to the forest department and the national tiger estimation, not to this page.

It can be a shorter wildlife add-on to Jaipur than Ranthambore. It is still a full excursion, not a lunch stop.
