Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, below the older palace at Amber.

Tourism
Places, forts and journeys
Rajasthan is India’s largest state by area. A first week is one line of cities, not the whole map. October to March is the kind window for most visitors. Summer heat on the plains is serious, and monsoon greens the east and south.
Food
Thalis, sweets and desert cooking
Dal baati churma, gatte, ker sangri, Jaipur’s pyaaz kachori and Jodhpur’s mirchi vada are everyday foods, not only festival plates. Laal maas is a hot mutton dish. Ghewar belongs to Teej and the rains.
Culture
Dress, craft and festivals
Bandhani is tie-dye. Leheriya is the monsoon wave. Gangaur follows Holi, and Pushkar’s camel fair sits near Kartik Purnima. Those civil dates move every year.
Study
GK and exam orientation
Practice from stored notes. District counts, cut-offs and results change. RPSC and RSSB publish the notices that matter. This site does not.
Stepwell
Chand Baori at Abhaneri
The stepped tank in Dausa, beside Harshat Mata. It is not a UNESCO site, and it is not in Jodhpur.
Fort
Gagron, a 2013 hill fort
Where the Ahu and the Kali Sindh meet. One of the six UNESCO hill forts. Not a substitute for Chittorgarh.
Wildlife
Keoladeo, Bharatpur
A wetland inscribed in 1985. Birds, not tigers. Water level changes the year.
Temple
Dilwara at Mount Abu
Marble Jain temples in Sirohi. Famous, and not the UNESCO hill-fort list. Dress and photography follow the temple.

FAQ
Is Rajasthan.Love an official government website?
No. It is an independent knowledge and planning library. Recruitment notices, ticket prices, exam dates and results must be checked on the official site named in the answer.
Where do the answers come from?
From files stored with this website. Search runs in your browser. There is no live feed from a government server.
What if my question is not in the library?
The site will say it could not find a verified answer. It will not invent one. You will see the closest stored questions and categories.
Can I save a question without an account?
Yes. Saved questions, guides, tools and recent searches stay in this browser until you remove them.
Why do some answers ask me to verify a fact?
District boundaries, fees, train times, schemes and exam rules change. Those records are marked and dated. Evergreen history and culture are written more directly, still with sources.

Gagron Fort
Gagron Fort is a fort where the Ahu and the Kali Sindh meet, and a UNESCO hill fort. This overview reading stays inside a reviewed note for Jhalawar district and does not add a price, a census or a timetable.
What it is, and where it sits
Gagron Fort is a fort where the Ahu and the Kali Sindh meet, and a UNESCO hill fort. Inscribed in 2013 with Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh, Ranthambore, Amber and Jaisalmer. It is often called a water-and-hill fort. Most itineraries skip it. Do not drag it into a Jaipur week. Do not give it a Padmini story. That literature is a Chittorgarh telling.
It is in Jhalawar district, read here as part of Hadoti, and usually approached from Kota. From the usual hub this is a full day. It is a poor clip-on to another fort the same morning. The court or tradition named with that history is Hadoti.
UNESCO, only as this note states it: Yes. Hill Forts of Rajasthan, 2013. The short study line is: Gagron is the Jhalawar component of the 2013 six.
How to give it the right amount of time
A morning from Kota or Jhalawar. The setting is half the point.
What a visit can actually name: the confluence; the walls; the gates. The walking is: Gates and ramparts.
Neighbours already in the note: Jhalawar; Jhalrapatan; Kota. The mistake is pairing too much: saying you saw all the UNESCO forts while skipping this one
Food is a separate decision. Eat in Jhalawar or Kota.
The Hadoti year, as a tendency
Winter for the climb. Monsoon for the rivers, from a safe path. The twelve lines below are seasonal tendencies for this part of Rajasthan. They were written as patterns, reviewed 2026-10-02. They are not a forecast, and they do not say that a gate will be open.
January is pleasant for Kota, Bundi and Jhalawar. Mornings can be cool. February is a good month for stepwells and Gagron. March warms steadily. April is hot along the Chambal. May is severe. Do not plan a midday fort climb. June is very hot.
July is real monsoon country. The east and south of the division green up. Waterfalls may run. August is wet. Palace stone is slippery. Ask before a safari. September stays humid, then eases. October is comfortable again. November is an easy month for Hadoti’s towns. December is clear and a fair time for a slow Bundi night.
What to refuse, and how to behave
Story, kept as story: It is not unknown. It is on the World Heritage list.
Confusion to keep straight: Not Chittorgarh. Both are UNESCO and they are not the same size.
A nearby dargah or shrine has its own rule. Monsoon rivers change the approach. Wet stone is slick. Fees change.
Gagron Fort is not filed first as a shrine, but private rooms and worship, where they exist, are still not a right of entry.
No special permit is recorded in this note. Hours and fees can still change, so they are not printed as if they were stable.
