Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, below the older palace at Amber.

Tourism
Places, forts and journeys
Rajasthan is India’s largest state by area. A first week is one line of cities, not the whole map. October to March is the kind window for most visitors. Summer heat on the plains is serious, and monsoon greens the east and south.
Food
Thalis, sweets and desert cooking
Dal baati churma, gatte, ker sangri, Jaipur’s pyaaz kachori and Jodhpur’s mirchi vada are everyday foods, not only festival plates. Laal maas is a hot mutton dish. Ghewar belongs to Teej and the rains.
Culture
Dress, craft and festivals
Bandhani is tie-dye. Leheriya is the monsoon wave. Gangaur follows Holi, and Pushkar’s camel fair sits near Kartik Purnima. Those civil dates move every year.
Study
GK and exam orientation
Practice from stored notes. District counts, cut-offs and results change. RPSC and RSSB publish the notices that matter. This site does not.
Stepwell
Chand Baori at Abhaneri
The stepped tank in Dausa, beside Harshat Mata. It is not a UNESCO site, and it is not in Jodhpur.
Fort
Gagron, a 2013 hill fort
Where the Ahu and the Kali Sindh meet. One of the six UNESCO hill forts. Not a substitute for Chittorgarh.
Wildlife
Keoladeo, Bharatpur
A wetland inscribed in 1985. Birds, not tigers. Water level changes the year.
Temple
Dilwara at Mount Abu
Marble Jain temples in Sirohi. Famous, and not the UNESCO hill-fort list. Dress and photography follow the temple.

FAQ
Is Rajasthan.Love an official government website?
No. It is an independent knowledge and planning library. Recruitment notices, ticket prices, exam dates and results must be checked on the official site named in the answer.
Where do the answers come from?
From files stored with this website. Search runs in your browser. There is no live feed from a government server.
What if my question is not in the library?
The site will say it could not find a verified answer. It will not invent one. You will see the closest stored questions and categories.
Can I save a question without an account?
Yes. Saved questions, guides, tools and recent searches stay in this browser until you remove them.
Why do some answers ask me to verify a fact?
District boundaries, fees, train times, schemes and exam rules change. Those records are marked and dated. Evergreen history and culture are written more directly, still with sources.

the large sundial at Jantar Mantar, Jaipur
Jantar Mantar, Jaipur is the open-air observatory of Sawai Jai Singh II, a set of masonry instruments. This sight reading stays inside a reviewed note for Jaipur district and does not add a price, a census or a timetable.
What it is, and where it sits
Jantar Mantar, Jaipur is the open-air observatory of Sawai Jai Singh II, a set of masonry instruments. UNESCO inscribed the Jaipur observatory in 2010. That is not 2013, the hill forts, and not 1985, Keoladeo. A guide who only says sundial has started and has not finished.
It is in Jaipur district, read here as part of Dhundhar, and usually approached from Jaipur. It sits in a city you would already be staying in. The limit is time and heat, not a transfer. The court or tradition named with that history is Sawai Jai Singh II.
UNESCO, only as this note states it: Yes. Inscribed in 2010. The short study line is: Jaipur Jantar Mantar, UNESCO 2010. Hill forts, 2013. Keoladeo, 1985.
How to give it the right amount of time
See it with the City Palace and Hawa Mahal. Give the instruments time.
What a visit can actually name: the large sundial; the masonry instruments; the site beside the City Palace. The walking is: An open sunny loop.
Neighbours already in the note: City Palace; Hawa Mahal; Johari Bazaar. The mistake is pairing too much: memorising 2013 for this site
Food is a separate decision. Old-city kachori shops are a short walk, and better in the morning.
The Dhundhar year, as a tendency
Winter is the comfortable season for a long look. The twelve lines below are seasonal tendencies for this part of Rajasthan. They were written as patterns, reviewed 2026-10-02. They are not a forecast, and they do not say that a gate will be open.
January is busy and pleasant by day, chilly at night, especially on a fort rampart. February is one of the easiest months for Jaipur’s old city. March warms up. Holi and wedding crowds can coincide. April is hot. Start monuments at opening time. May is severe heat on the plains. Sightseeing after late morning is endurance. June stays extremely hot.
July brings the first proper chance of rain. Roads can slow. August is greener and humid. A washed fort looks different and the stone can be slippery. September still carries heat and the odd shower. October is the start of the main visiting season. November is clear and comfortable for a full day outside. December is peak season. Book less tightly and expect cold mornings.
What to refuse, and how to behave
Story, kept as story: It is not a fort and not a set of modern telescopes.
Confusion to keep straight: Other cities had observatories. The 2010 inscription is the Jaipur one.
Do not climb an instrument. The stone gets extremely hot. Little shade. Fees change.
Jantar Mantar, Jaipur is not filed first as a shrine, but private rooms and worship, where they exist, are still not a right of entry.
No special permit is recorded in this note. Hours and fees can still change, so they are not printed as if they were stable.
